the Answer to Eternity

As man searches for the answer to eternity, he fails to see the answers are in the only book that has successfully predicted the future.  This book is the Bible, God’s holy word given to us as a road map for eternity.  The bible is the most influential book in history.  Nations were built upon its foundation and legal systems designed around the laws and procedures in the bible.  Lets look for what we are searching for.

The Law – In the Bible the law was given to Moses and the nation of Israel.  They were to follow the law to remain in fellowship with God.  But here is the problem.  The law was given to show them and us the sin in our life and that we are not able to abide by God's Holy law without the God’s help.  The law also gave judgment for sin, which is death.

for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.  Romans 5:13

Sin in our Life – Sin is disobedience towards God.  The 10 commandments are well known and most people can name at least a few like; thou shall not steal, thou shall not kill, thou shall not bear false witness (lying).  These 10 laws are well known but they are not all of the laws mentioned in the bible.  The sin in our lives separates us from our Creator.  No one is immune from sin (for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23) and the punishment for sin is death (for the wages of sin is death…Romans 6:23a).  No one is perfect.

Forgiveness – God has always provided mercy and forgiveness.  In the Old Testament forgiveness of sin was achieved through animal sacrifice but that sacrifice was not a permanent offering for future sins.  Since the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (God in flesh), the forgiveness of sin rests on Him alone.  He allowed himself to be sacrificed for our sin, that we would have a path to forgiveness. So how do we seek forgiveness from a Holy God?

If you want to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you will find an example prayer below that you can offer to Him.  It does not have to be exact; there is no magical prayer.  Just genuine heart felt repentance and faith in Him.

    Dear Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner and I have sinned against you.  I know that my efforts and works will not justify me.  I know that I deserve to be punished for my sins and I have nothing to offer you.

Jesus, I ask you to be Lord of my life.  I ask you for forgiveness of my sins.  Please cleanse me with your blood and make me clean in your site.

Jesus, I put my faith and trust in You.  Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  I give You control of my life.

In your name I pray, Amen

If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, you are a child of God.

But let all who put their trust in You rejoice; let them always shout for joy, because You defend them. And let those who love Your name be joyful in You.                Psalm 5:11
